‘Normal’ insurance coverages  like auto insurance is great and all but not very entertaining. Odd insurances are.

Change of Heart coverage – Basically you get a special event policy for your wedding.  If either partner change their mind and the wedding does not happen you are insured against the expense you have already paid out for such as reception, limo, dj, cake, etc.

Origin

In 2007, Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company joined forces with Insurance agent RV Nuccio & Associates Inc to enhance their insurance policies for weddings and private events to protect the finances of their customers. Fireman’s Fund is the first insurance company to offer this oddsurance.

Despite the interesting name, being stood up on the big day is only one of the many reasons why a wedding might not occur. Occurrences like weather, fire,  power failure at the venue, or missing photographers could be reasons why a spouse may want to cancel the entire wedding.

The insurance policy covers the following:

• Gift, attire, jewelry, and rental property damage – Pays to repair or replace the items if damaged, lost, or stolen.
• Photography – Pays the cost to retake photographs(including the travel) if the photographer fails to show up or if the negatives are damaged, lost, stolen or improperly developed.
• Weather – Available for policies purchased 14 days or more before the event
• Professional Counseling – Covers any counseling needed for the emotional distressed from a cancelled event.
• Cancellation – Pays up to the limit selected for nonrefundable expenses.
• International destinations – Covers destination weddings in the British Isles.
• Loss of deposits – Refunds lost deposits if venue or professionals(caterer, djs, etc) fails to provide their services.

Since the birth of the change of heart oddsurance, other companies have also been offering such services to their customers.
