How to do Health Insurance right

Did this photo of ice cream catch your attention? Good. Let’s read about how to find the right health insurance!

Review, review, review, review!

If you’re covered by your employment for health insurance then on, review your current coverage when the company has open enrollment. There may be more and newer options available at this time that was unavailable last time. Ask yourself what kind of quality care you would like to receive and what the insurance will and will not plan for. Pay close attention to deductibles, co-payments, prescription coverages, lifetime benefits and any sort of limits. The most important thing is to always ask!

Health Changes

If your health has changed for whatever reason, it might be better to choose a plan that has premiums but lower co-payments. There are occasions where the company you work for might offer incentives for being physical, weight loss, or quitting smoking. This could help lower your premiums – it’s worth taking a look with your employers. Be cautious though, that your company plan is not permitted by law to drop your coverage or to raise your premium just because your health situation goes down the drain.

Location Changes

Health insurance is affected by the location you live in. Prices for policies changes traumatically from state to state. For example, the most expensive individual insurance plan in the US is in New York due to the guarantee policy that they  followw where companies must insure policy holders regardless of good or bad health.

Research, research, research, Marsha, Marsha, Marsha!

If you’re reading this article, it must mean you’re on the internet. Unless someone printed this which case, this came from the Internet! The internet is at your hands, start researching affordable health insurance rates. A good website can say a lot about an insurance company so start searching now! Or visit for some Southern California hospitality!

Find out your Priorities

Make a list about what’s important, check it twice, and take the information to your insurance company or insurance broker where they’ll help you. If you’re able to narrow down and focus what matters the most to you, you’ll have an easier time finding insurance. For example: lower premiums, prescription drugs coverages, and staying with a local doctor may be very important to you. On the other hand, someone who travels a lot might care more about their health insurance needs when they’re away from home.

Look for a broker

If you want to find affordable health insurance, an insurance broker can make life a lot easier for you. They can explain everything to you when you need something to be clarified and can look for a plan that suits your priorities. What else do you need?! If you want to find a broker that is worth your time, do some research and ask for credentials.
