Dont Commit Insurance Fraud

Looks like another person in the news is guilty of insurance fraud. This time it’s a chiropractor in Pennsylvania!

From wfmz:

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — A local chiropractor has found himself in trouble with the law.

Authorities accuse Dean Kevin Ziegler, who operates the Ziegler Chiropractic Rehabilitation Center at 101 South 14th Street in Allentown, of submitting bills to insurance companies for services he did not perform and for higher-cost procedures than those he actually did.

Prosecutors said Ziegler also knew that more than $3,000 in bills had been submitted for appointments scheduled with him while he was in the Lehigh County Prison in January and February 2009.

Ziegler was charged Thursday with two counts each of insurance fraud and theft by deception and six counts each of criminal conspiracy to commit insurance fraud and criminal conspiracy to commit theft by deception, all third-degree felonies.

Agents with the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Insurance Fraud Task Force seized computer equipment and various documents from Ziegler’s practice.

Prosecutors said Ziegler’s prior incarceration stemmed from his arrest in an unrelated case on August 5, 2008. They said he was placed on 18 months probation, but was taken into custody and incarcerated for allegedly violating that probation.

Here is Ziegler’s website, with Ziegler’s photo for those who are interested.

It’s unfortunate that a doctor has committed insurance fraud – his life and career will be taking a 180 that’s for sure.  This is just another example of what happens to people who try to commit insurance fraud. Don’t do it people, don’t become Dean Kevin Ziegler!
