Help Japan

It has only been a few days since the devastating 8.9 earthquake hit Japan which caused over $30 billion in damage and  more than 2800 deaths. You can read my previous article here when I first witnessed it on the day of the disaster.  It’s not too late to help the people of Japan – whether it be monetary or just simply spreading the word about it. Here are some ways you can help:

  • You can text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation to the Red Cross who will see that your donations are put to good use.
  • Dog Bless You –  This a non profit organization for dog lovers . They recently had a fund-raiser to raise $100k for Japan – they’ve reached their goals but feel free to still like their page for future events.
  • Lady Gaga Wristbands – Yup – Lady Gaga has designed a silicone bracelet similar to the LiveStrong bracelets. Donate and get a wristband from Lady Gaga!
  • University of San Diego’s Japanese Student Association –  UCSD’s Japanese Student Association has put together their own fundraiser to collect donations. They will be sending the proceeds to the Miyagi Prefectural Government where they’ll direct the money to where it is mostly needed.

For further information, the good people at Google have set up a crises response website with as much information as you may need.
