Hungover Cures

Apparently in Ireland it was said that the cure for a hangover is to bury the ailing person up to the neck in moist river sand. Be glad this isn’t true anymore.

So yesterday was Saint Patrick’s Day – filled with green clothes, clovers, drunk rambling, and plenty of green dyed beer. Perhaps you found the golden pot of gold? Or perhaps you found a golden toilet bowl to release your own gold. Potentially your urine may be green as well – don’t worry, it’s probably just the food coloring or all that asparagus you ate (I can’t believe there is actually a website called Urine Colors).

Anyway, enough reading for your potentially throbbing headache, upset stomach, gross-tasting mouth, and possibly guilty conscience – let’s get to the meat of this article. Hangover cures!

  1. Do you have work? Call in sick. Forget work today….Okay, I’m kidding – I do not condone slacking off! But if you do feel like strangling around you, it’s best if you do.
  2. Rest – The best cure for a hangover. Some hangovers could last 24 hours so if you could afford it, go back to bed and let sleep cure your hangover.
  3. Hydrate yourself – Water is your best friend at this crucial moment – alcohol causes dehydration so hydrate yourself! This is not the magic cure for a hangover but it’ll definitely help your body flush the alcohol around in your body. Alternatively, you can drink something with electrolytes such as energy drinks or try the more expensive water bottles. Orange juice is a wise choice as well since good ol vitamin C will be there to help you out.
  4. Eat a hearty meal – Breakfast is the most important meal of the day right? Then don’t skip out on it especially if you have a raging headache. Replenish nutrients with proteins, fats, and nutrients.
  5. Get some peace and quiet – Loud noises will be one of your worst nightmares during a hangover so either get some ear plugs or find a location where you won’t want to murder people printing a billion pages.
  6. Try Alka Seltzer Morning Relief -I’ve read that it could cure a person within 15 minutes of taking it. Worth a shot if nothing else is working.
  7. Avoid coffee – you’ll end up dehydrating yourself.
  8. Avoid Aspirins – Aspirin is a blood thinner and could intensify the effects of your hangover.

Did you know – the older you are, the more harder alcohol will hit you?
