Insurance Problem Disrupts Portland, Oregon Charter School

After staying home on April 11 and 12, students at Trillium Charter School in Portland returned to class on the 13th after a dispute over insurance caused the school to cancel classes.

The Oregonian reports the K-12 school with 360 students had to cancel two days because insurers dropped property, liability and workers’ compensation coverage in a dispute over payments.

The executive director, Genevieve Bouwes, says the school reached a deal with the insurance carriers to keep the school covered through June.

The students will make up the missed days at the end of the school year.
