Tom Brady confesses that selling insurance was Plan B

If Tom Brady hadn’t been drafted, he might have ended up selling insurance.

That’s what a tearful Brady told NFL Films president Steve Sabol during “The Brady 6”, a one-hour documentary about the Patriots star and the six quarterbacks drafted ahead of him in 2000 that aired ESPN Tuesday night.

“I don’t have to be an insurance salesman,” Brady told Sabol, recalling his thoughts when the Patriots finally selected the former Michigan quarterback in the sixth round with the 199th overall pick.

That comment might have been taken the wrong way by some insurance salesmen, but certainly not by Brady’s father. Tom Brady Sr. is an insurance consultant.

Whenever the Patriots need a game-winning drive, he’s always ready to deliver.

Like a good neighbor, Tom Brady is there.
