3 La. residents arrested in alleged insurance scam

ST. FRANCISVILLE, La. — Three St. Francisville residents have been arrested on insurance fraud charges for allegedly filing false claims for injuries they claimed to suffer in a car accident.

Police said a car belonging to 31-year-old Honabea Cavalier wasn’t occupied when it was struck by another vehicle in a parking lot, but she filed injury claims with an insurance company for herself and her five children. The insurer paid her $500 to cover the injuries she claimed her children sustained.

Police also on Wednesday arrested 26-year-old Earl Barrow and 51-year-old Sandra Cavalier. Both are accused of filing their own false injury claims for the crash.

All three were booked into the West Feliciana Parish jail and face up to five years in prison if convicted of the insurance fraud charges.
