3rd Affordable Insurance office robbed

Investigators responded this afternoon to the third armed robbery at an Affordable Insurance location in two weeks.

Authorities were dispatched to Affordable Insurance, 2803 Wrightsboro Road, in Daniel Village at 2:15 p.m., today to investigate an armed robbery. Richmond County sheriff’s Capt. Scott Gay said today’s gunman matched the description of the gunman from the two previous robberies.

According to an incident report, the man sat down in the waiting area. After a customer had left the building, the gunman pulled out a silver handgun, put it to the head of the sole employee in the business and said, “This is a robbery. I will kill you.”

After removing money from the employee’s drawer, the gunman forced the employee to the floor while he made his exit, police said.

Authorities said the modus operandi was the same for all robberies.

Deputies were called to armed robberies at the 453 Broad St., location May 23 and the 3084 Deans Bridge Road location on Thursday.

Affordable Insurance has at least four more locations in the Augusta area.
